Maine Trip
October 13 to 20 2006

Return to Trisha-Leonard Home Page

Maine, 'The Pine Tree State' is 39th in size and 40th in population with 1,317,000.

In the south the coastline consists of long sandy beaches, but these quickly give way to large bays
with rocky promontories, peninsulas and fjords as you move north.

On our short taste of Maine we went as far north as Camden on Penobscot Bay, a little south of the better known Bangor and Bar Harbor.

Maine is reported to have 63 lighthouses, but only 20 are easily accessible by car or on foot and we managed to get close up with 10 of these.

We also visited Concord, capital of New Hampshire on the way to Maine.

The links below proceed more or less from south to north.
