The New York Chinese Scholar's Garden - situated within the Staten Island Botanical Gardens - is the only authentic classical Chinese garden built in the US.

The entire garden, down to the last roof tile and paving stone, was prefabricated in Suzhou and shipped to New York in the Spring of 1998.

A team of 40 Chinese artists and artisans soon followed and took up residence in the gardens.

In 6 months they finished the construction and the garden opened to international acclaim in June 1999.
